  1. I do hope That I’m not too late to make a suggestion for the new River event in 2013. I met Richard Patty Aleks and Barty at the castle climbing centre on Sunday and they made me aware of that the new river is 400 years old next year. So I went home and mentioned this to my family and we came up with some ideas:

Raft building and racing – (Possibly using 17th century technologies only)
    Bridge building contest
    Beer festival
    Coracle building
17th century food and drink festival
    Bushcraft water filtration workshop

    Good luck with your planning!

    • Hey Chris those are amazing ideas! Thanks! I may take the bridge building contest, perhaps with sugar canes, like a little workshop or something. Who know? if it’s good enough it may even be made!
Thanks again for discussing with your family.

    • Hi Chris, just to let you know, the blog is now being used for actual events taking place this summer along the New River and I will be adding new ones as they are confirmed. Hope to see you there!

  2. hi guys, what about a beer festival made exclusively from new river water…it was what people were drinking instead of water because it had been distilled and cleaner…

    good luck…

    • Sounds like a plan! I heard that there used to be gin factories around Clerkenwell to use up some of the water, although the abundance of alcohol led to social decline in the area, but for a weekend it might be fine! I wonder how we could get it made? Any brewers out there?
